Cyclist Suffers Brain Injury in San Diego Bicycle Accident

A 24-year old woman suffered a serious brain injury in a San Diego bicycle accident that took place on April 17, 2010 around 11:50 a.m. The bike accident occurred on Genesee Avenue at La Jolla Village Drive near Westfield University Towne Center.

The victim was riding her cycle when she was hit by a 2004 Infiniti sedan. She was northbound on Genesee when the westbound driver slammed into her causing severe head trauma. The victim was taken to the hospital. Her injuries are said to be non life threatening.

Our office wishes a quick recovery to the injured woman. We hope and pray that she heals completely and comes out of this accident totally recuperated. Cyclists must make it a point to wear helmets. That is the least amount of safety measure a cyclist can take.  Keep in mind that anyone who suffers a severe head injury risks the chance of brain injury which includes long term symptoms that can affect the victim for the rest of their life.
