Former Nebraska Cornhusker football player Justin Tomerlin lost his life in a tragic San Diego brain injury accident, which happened while he was skateboarding, on March 27, 2010, in La Jolla.
The 27-year old ex-Husker tight end was skateboarding down a hill when he fell and hit his head. Tomerlin was not wearing any safety equipment, like a helmet, which might have had prevented such a tragic outcome.
Our office offers our deepest condolences and prayers to Tomerlin’s friends and family and to the Cornhusker family for their loss. We can understand that his loved ones must be going through a very tough period. But we feel we have to use this accident as an example to stress that wearing helmets while participating in sports like skateboarding can save one’s life. Even a simple bump in the head can prove to be fatal.
