Child Brain Injury Caused by Babysitter

An Auburn, Washington woman is accused of severely injuring a baby boy and causing a brain injury when she became frustrated and roughly placed him on the ground. Dottie Reed, 18-years old, reported to the police that she became angry and upset at the young boy she was babysitting because he was always fussy and did not appear to like her. This incident occurred on May 28, 2010.

Boy Scouts Sued for Catastrophic Santa Clara Brain Injury

Linden Feldman, a 44- year old software engineer, took his kids to Scout-O-Rama sponsored by Santa Clara Council at Kelly Park on May 9, 2009. The Boy Scouts provided a zipline ride with a safety harness to grip the riders as they jump over 25-foot high tower and then zipped down a wire at the speed of nearly 40 mph. As a result of using the zipline tower, Feldman became injured and has recently filed a lawsuit against the Boy Scouts in Santa Clara County Superior Court.

Major Depression Common After Brain Injury

Washington State researchers have found that severe depression within the first year of a suffering a traumatic brain injury is common. Studies indicate that the incidence of major depression among 559 people with traumatic brain injury was nearly eight times greater than would be expected in the general population.

Live Oak Boy Dies of Brain Injuries

Sabino Robles, 36, of Live Oak, was riding on his Honda Four Trax ATV with his 2-year old son seated on his lap in an agricultural field on County Road 85 in Dunnigan. Neither of the riders was wearing the proper safety equipment at the time of the accident.

Utilizing a recent study by the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research that included interviews of 1,063 former NFL players, the Times reported that 6.1 percent of former players aged 50 and older had received dementia-related diagnosis. That is five times the national average of 1.2 percent.
